Community Days

The Pilot Hill Committee is excited to introduce you to the wonderful recreational, educational and conservation opportunities that have been offered to our community through the Pilot Hill land purchase.

The Warren Livestock Company (WLS) generously encouraged the Pilot Hill Committee to invite the public on to the property on two designated days this fall – to hike, bike, ride and travel by horseback on the property. These Community Access Days will be held on the first Saturdays in September and October – September 7th and October 5th.

While enjoying this opportunity, we ask that you abide by the following guidelines that will enhance your experience:

  • We want to reduce the likelihood of participants getting lost or injured while also protecting the property, so we ask that you follow the flagged routes. Runners, hikers and bikers will be sharing trails, so please slow down when approaching other users and take turns passing as needed.
  • If you are not joining one of our organized group hikes or rides, we ask that you travel with a “buddy” and carry a fully charged cell phone.
  • We ask you to “sign-in” at Jacoby Ridge (or for horse travel at the horse trailer parking area) before accessing the property. We also ask you to “sign out” when you leave the property. It is important that you both sign-in and sign-out at one of the four designated access sites by 3 pm. If we do not have a record of your leaving the property, we will be required to search the area for you at the end of the day.
  • We ask that you do not carry alcohol, bring a dog (except service animals) or discharge firearms during your visit. The property is currently a working ranch.

Maps

Maps will be available at the Access sites for the Pilot Hill Community Access Days – or you can download the map on to your phone or tablet. We suggest the Avenza maps app (free on both Android and Apple devices).

This application allows the user to “Download or Import” any geospatial PDF to be used on cellphones or tablets (with GPS) to track your location on the map. Once the download or import is complete, the map is stored on your device, so no “data service” is required to navigate on the map. The free account can have up to 3 different PDFs imported.

Steps:

  1. Download the app to your device.
  2. Download the attached map from this website on that device and import it using the Avenza maps app.
